Information Technology

The IT Department is always working to improve the infrastructure and services we provide to Santa Cruz City Schools. We have recently completed a major network upgrade for all our sites. We've installed a  10Gb fiber backbone network that connects all sites with Meraki switches and wireless access points. The new single-mode fiber and category 6/6a cabling deliver both speed and reliability to our wired and wireless network.

Our new network will provide the necessary bandwidth for innovative learning technologies and programs that support students and staff.

The IT department is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and support of:

Wide-area network (WAN) connecting school sites and district office to each other and the Internet
Local area networks (LAN) on each campus that provide Internet access to the classrooms
Wireless networking on campuses
Student Information Systems managing all aspects of student records
Gmail services for every employee and student at SCCS
Virtual Machines (VMs) - district servers that support administration for data analysis, backup, disaster recovery, Nutrikids, and VoIP solution.
